Disappointing earnings take TSX lower

Gold prices were also weak as the June bullion contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange declined $8.80 to US$1,153.40 an ounce. The materials sector backed off 1.16 per cent as Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX) finished 49 cents lower at C$40.41 and Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) lost 42 cents to $39.76.
The base metals sector lost 1.86 per cent even as May copper rose four cents at US$3.60 a pound.
Shares of junior miner Khan Resources Inc. (TSX:KRI) fell 31 cents or 36.47 per cent to 54 cents after the company announced that its Mongolian subsidiary and a joint venture have had their uranium mining and exploration licences invalidated.
